Dear Parents and Carers,

RE: Christmas Arrangements

I am writing today to outline our Christmas plans however before I do, I would like to take this opportunity to thank-you for your continued support this year. As I reflect on our first academic term, I feel privileged to work with such an inspiring group of children who have achieved goals and progress in varying capacities may that be an improvement in attendance, an improvement in their attitude to learning or the positive relationships they continue to form and sustain with pupils and staff.

This year, pupils have enjoyed a range of experiences from our careers experience to Knowsley Safari Park, to virtual reality workshops, to museum trips to a range of sporting events – all of which for the most part, they have conducted themselves beautifully and have been a credit to yourselves and the school.

We look forward to 2024, where will continue to offer your children a broad and diverse curriculum centred around our new Willow Bank Way values in the view that collectively and individually, we can “achieve, believe, succeed together”.

Christmas Jumper Day

The national Christmas Jumper day has been agreed for 7th December. Pupils are welcome to come into school wearing their Christmas jumper with their £1 donation. All funds raised will be donated to the Save the Children charity.

KS2 Christmas Play and Christmas Bingo

On Thursday 14th December, KS2 pupils are opening their classrooms and inviting parents and carers to join in with their Christmas festivities. Pupils have been working on a short Christmas play which they will share; this will then be followed by Christmas bingo. Parents are to arrive for 1.15pm, the last bingo session will finish at 2.30pm – carers and parents are welcome to take their child home with them at that time. If you cannot attend, please don’t worry, pupils will access transport as normal.

Christmas Dinner

On Thursday 21st December, all pupils will be offered a Christmas dinner free of charge. The school times will run as normal, where KS2 will take first sitting and KS3 and KS4 will take second sitting. Pupils are welcome to wear their Christmas jumper once more. Pupils are welcome to bring a packed lunch if they prefer.

Christmas Talent Show

On Thursday 21st December, after we have enjoyed our Christmas dinner, pupils are welcome to take part in our first ever Willow Bank talent show. This is a lovely opportunity for pupils to showcase whatever their talent is and as a school we fully appreciate that talents come in different shapes, forms and sizes may that be, football skills, singing, comedy or even juggling, the more diverse the talent the better! Usual timetable including Outdoor Education will still be available for pupils who do not wish to take part.

Final Day

Friday 22nd is our final day of the term; the school times are as normal with pupils finishing at 1.15pm. On this Friday we will celebrate the year with our usual end of term achievement assembly. Pupils are expected to be in school in full school uniform.

If you have any questions regarding any of the above, please feel free to ring the school office on 01744 678745.

For now, may I take this opportunity to wish you a safe and pleasant Christmas and a prosperous and healthy New Year.

Kind regards,

Kimberley Buck
