Therapy dog Nova took part in Friday's Enrichment sessions - mindfulness and the outdoors. Pupils chose to use the local community walks alongside Mr Fairclough to engage in their outdoor mindfulness session.
Therapy dogs provide a range of roles in various settings. They aim is to contribute to mental and physical well-being. In educational settings, therapy dogs are known to contribute significantly to students' emotional wellbeing. They may be present in classrooms or special sessions where students can interact with them. This interaction helps reduce stress during exams, ease social anxieties and improving literacy skills as children can read aloud or talk to a non-judgmental listener.
