Year 9 are studying China in Geography and have been looking at culture and Chinese food. Pupils made their own side dish - fried rice or egg friend noodles and then sampled a range of different dishes during their "taste experience.

Year 11 pupils are exploring Italian pasta dishes. Pupils researched the different types of sauces to complement pasta dishes - choosing to create a bolognaise sauce. Next lesson pupils will prepare the sauce independently using their creation to make a Lasagna dish.

Pupils explored the topic of emotions using the emotion cards "How would you feel if .......... ?" to look at how your own emotions are formed and how other peoples emotions may differ. The cards allowed pupils to develop their emotional vocabulary and act as a visual aid for explaining the facial…

Pupils' explored the 5 senses grounding technique 5-4-3-2-1 of touch helping to regulate emotions. Pupils used plasticine creating an object of their choice - a multi-coloured snowman and birthday cake for a family member.

Y8 have developed their skills using charcoal to create African maps. Learning about Ancient Egypt pupils created the African continent using metallic acrylic paint to reflect the opulence of Ancient Egyptian art and artefacts.

Key Stage 2 pupils have been studying living things and their habitats in Science. This week we have been looking at human life cycles. Pupils described how humans are set apart from other species, as mammals, and the different stages they go through from birth to adulthood.

KS3 Mindfulness session focused on the sense of vision, during a "beach experience" using the Laxman goggles as part of a relaxation and meditation activity. 

For World Maths Day we are entering the Mathletics online competition. This morning's assembly linked International Womens' Day with famous female mathematicians.

Year 8 pupils at Rivington Pike in Lancashire during their Outdoor Education lesson combining map reading and compass skills with Geography and the water cycle 

Year 8 pupils have been exploring the properties of charcoal and learning about the history of charcoal in art. Here, they've explored ruler effects using blending techniques, they've used both vine and loose charcoal to form tonal value abstract designs.

Staff team "Willow Bank Wanderers" completed the St Helens10K run on Sunday 5th March. Fortunately no one collapsed on North Road! The next event in our illustrious running career will be at Tatton Park on Saturday 13th May.
